Summertime is often under-utilized by socio-economically challenged children who are left on their own without adult supervision. KidsFest's Academic Summer Discovery Camps are a means not only of preparation, but of prevention. These summer-long daily programs are designed to provide children from lower-income families with an opportunity to improve their academic skills in preparation for the coming school year, allowing them a greater chance at completing their education. The camps, in partnership with Teachers Who Tutor/Kiddies Manor Inc., offer individualized programming using Ministry of Education approved curriculum, and involve daily lessons in a variety of subjects such as English, Mathematics, French, Science, and Computer Skills, as well as life skills training, physical activities, and a “challenge” component. Through this initiative, we are helping struggling students thrive in a society with ever-increasing academic and social demands. |

| On behalf of the kids whom KidsFest serves, we would like to thank our Presenting Sponsor, TD Waterhouse, and our many other Corporate Sponsors, KidsFriends, and patrons, who made the 8th Annual KidsFest Signature Gala in Oakville at the Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre on April 18, 2008 such a great success. Because of your generosity, we will continue to pave the Pathway of Hope, which is leading Canada’s 1.2 million children who live in poverty into new possibilities.
